The seat interface principle of children's car safety seat
The full name of ISOFIX is "International Standards Organisation FIX", which means: international standardized arrangement of fixed devices. It is a new specification for the placement of children's car safety seats made of blow molding in cars. This specification is being accepted by many car manufacturers, and the role of the empty seat plate is to make the installation of the child seat fast and simple.
The ISOFIX interface is already installed in the car when it leaves the factory. Child seat manufacturers install ISOFIX connectors on child seats. The ISOFIX child seat can then be easily fixed into the ISOFIX interface of the car.
The development of ISOFIX is an important development because many people do not properly install child seats, and inquiries have revealed that a large share of child seat devices are not safe.
Most child seats are placed in the car seat and secured with a crossbody shoulder strap (sometimes just a belt). However, different models of cars have different seats, seat belts and fastening methods. Different car seat shapes, shorter seat belts and different anchorage points can cause some child seats to be placed further forward or further back. All of these factors make it a challenge to create child seats for all types of cars.
ISOFIX was designed to address all these issues. The ultimate goal is to make any ISO FIX child seat you buy fit into your car by simply sticking it into the child seat connector.
Another effect of ISOFIX is that it can create a rigid connection between the child seat and the car to make it more stable.
The Isofix international standard was introduced in 1999. Many new cars entering service already have Isofix anchors and are equipped with baby and child safety seats. So anyone who wants and has the ability to buy a new car with Isofix anchoring points has done so now.
